Audi S3: Scintillating, of Course!

That's how this author out of South Africa feels about the Audi S3, it's scintillating! You really cannot blame him, especially with the upgraded 2.0-liter TFSI (Turbo FSI) engine that is the most powerful version of the 2.0-liter engine that Audi offers. That, combined with the sporty hatchback makes for a wonderfully fun and flexible car.

Audi S3 Motoring Review of the 2.0-liter turbo FSI Quattro

Here are a few excerpts:

Frankly, it makes a helluva lot more sense than a two-litre turbo TT unless you're into posing; after all, those who know the S3 will also know this latest version is devilishly fast thanks to it scoring 188 against the TT's 147kW and that it still has the quattro all-wheel drive that the latest two-litre TT has dropped.....

.....The S3 will seat four people, the TT two with your favourite garden gnomes in the back. The S3 has decent headroom and a biggish boot and, best of all, your significant other won't regard "Oh, so it's a hatchback, that's nice" as excessive on the household budget.....

.....The cylinder block has been reinforced at the main-bearing pedestals and the main-bearing cap and the cylinder head is made of a new, extra-light aluminium-silicon alloy and the new turbocharger has a larger turbine and compression rotor than the standard unit. Its cast steel casing – produced as a single piece, including the manifold – can cope with exhaust gas temperatures of up to 1050 degrees and it all generates a boost pressure of 1.2 bar instead of the standard 0.9 bar.....

.....Electronic stability and traction control come with the package, as do an S sports suspension with firmer springs and shock-absorbers, wider track and 18" cast aluminium rims shod with 225/40-profile tires.
